   WHY NOT GOOGLE'S CDN. The <link> this replaces ran on every page
   load, before any consent, and handed each reader's IP address to
   Google. It sets no cookie, so the consent banner was right not to
   gate it - but it is a third-party transfer the privacy policy did
   not disclose, and the cheapest way to make the policy true was to
   stop making the transfer. German courts have found against
   unconsented Google Fonts; the ICO has not, so this was a grey
   area rather than a breach. It is now neither.

   It is also faster. Google's CDN costs a DNS lookup, a TCP
   connection and a TLS handshake to a second origin before the
   first font byte moves; served from here the fonts ride the
   connection the page is already using. The shared-cache argument
   for using Google's CDN died when browsers partitioned their HTTP
   caches by origin - a visitor never had your fonts warm anyway.

   LICENSING. Archivo, Libre Baskerville and Allura are all under
   the SIL Open Font License, which permits redistribution and
   hosting. Nothing here needed permission.

   THESE ARE GOOGLE'S OWN FILES, byte for byte, fetched from
   fonts.gstatic.com and re-pointed - not re-exported, not
   subsetted by us. The unicode-range lines are theirs too, and they
   are what keeps this cheap: a reader fetches the latin files and
   nothing else unless the page actually contains a character from
   another range. All 13 faces are here, 571KB on disk, of which a
   typical visit downloads about 254KB - the same bytes Google was
   sending.

   ARCHIVO IS VARIABLE IN TWO AXES, weight 100-900 and width
   62%-125%. The font-stretch line on those faces is load-bearing:
   refresh.css sets font-variation-settings:"wdth" 100 throughout,
   and without the stretch descriptor the browser will not match
   the face to that request.
